The Etruscans first started up the settlement of Perugia and there is an Etruscan Wall still standing, an Arch, a gate with Roman fineries as well as a chamber tomb. The final interesting church is the Knights Templar, of San Bevignate. The warrior theme from the Templars then flows nicely into the Rocca Paolina, a fortress from the Renaissance period, although only one bastion is still standing it is certainly worth a trip. If you love art then the National Gallery of Umbrian art is a place to visit. Art from the middle ages and the Renaissance period both feature work by Piero della Francesca, Perugino and Duccio. There's also a beautiful medieval fountain called the Fontana Maggiore that was sculpted by the Pisano father and son. Other areas of modern day interest are the university's botanical garden, the Jazz festival which is held yearly in July, Perugia is one of the highlights of the European Jazz scene. Oh and Eurochocolate, the annual chocolate exhibition held in October of each year.
